Have You Seen The John Wick Movies?

Hey Woofa’s,

I’ve given myself a bit of a break this year, I’m not going back until 11th January!

During that time I was recommended I see the John Wick series!

I’m not normally into Assassin type movies but I am a fan of Keanu Reeves so I thought I’d give at least the first movie a watch.

Well, to say I’m a fan of the movies would be an understatement!

My motto is now – You Touch My Dog – I’ll go John Wick on your Ass!

At lot of people  I have since spoken to about the movies, didn’t see it from my point of view!

Many of you are probably asking – What does an Assassin movie have to do with dogs??

LET ME TELL YOU!!!

JOHN WICK MOVIE REVIEW – MOVIE ONE!

In the first movie, there is one really really really hard part to watch as a dog lover.

John Wick is an ex assassin, he was one of the best.  However, he got out of that world and got married.  Unfortunately, his wife dies of Cancer.

On the day of her funeral, a Beagle Puppy named Daisy is delivered to him, his last gift from his wife.

Other things happen but these thugs break into his house and end up killing Daisy (this is the hardest part of the movie to watch)!

Well, needless to say this act drags John Wick back into the Assassin world.

In that world he is feared, he is the best of the best and – he is the man you hire to kill the boogeyman!

Yes there is a lot of killing and fighting and gun shooting.

But what gets me, as a dog lover, is that the BAD GUYS keep saying – he’s doing all this because of a dog???

See the guy who killed Daisy is the son of another assassin.  The father knows John Wick is coming after his son.

Now I don’t have any fighting skills whatsoever, however if someone did that to my dog HELL YES I’D WANT TO GO JOHN WICK ON THEIR ASS!!!

Probably with a paint ball gun and then hopefully authorities and our justice system would take them down – in real life.

At the end of the first movie, John Wick is all cut up and beaten and ends up in a dog rescue or vets and he’s doing his own medical procedure on himself.

He looks over and sees this American Staffy in a kennel and decides to rescue him and take him as his own.

JOHN WICK MOVIE REVIEW – MOVIE TWO!

John Wick had to pay a price when he got out of the Assassin world.

He made a pack with a bad guy who calls in the favour.   John Wick has to kill the guy’s sister.

Again, there is a lot of killing and fighting etc.  John Wick never fails.

Because he kills the guy’s sister (so her brother can get ahead), he also has to look like the grieving brother and therefore puts a bounty on John Wick’s head.

If any of the other Assassin’s kill him they get $7million dollars.

But what I like here is, before John Wick goes into the fighting he makes sure his Dog is safe.

There’s a pact with all Assassins that they’re not to fight in any of the Continental Hotels throughout the world.

So no matter where John Wick is and where he’s about to fight, he always makes sure his dog gets to safe ground.

He doesn’t name his dog either.

The end of Movie Two – sees John Wick on the Run with his dog.

JOHN WICK MOVIE REVIEW – MOVIE THREE!

Where one movie ends is right where the next one picks up.

So John Wick is on the run AND in excommunicado because he did kill the bad guy in a Continental hotel and that’s a big no, no!

Now he’s got to save himself.

He has a token of his own and seeks payment for it.

It takes him to the Manager of the Moroccan Continental Hotel, who is played by Halle Berry.  She owes him a favour.

She reluctantly has to help him.

Again what I love is that she has two dogs of her own, German Shepherds.  That are trained by her to fight on demand.

Needless to say there’s more fighting and the dogs join in on demand and one is shot.  Thankfully though it has a vest on that protects it.

However she too becomes a very peed off dog owner and goes all kick ass chick on the guys ass who shoots her dog.

There’s much more that happens, but the end of movie three sees John Wick a very peed off man who is about to take revenge.

WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN?

While the John Wick movies are violent fighting movies, they’re just that, movies.

The escapism of each movie is great.

Even better is the fact that no matter how violent a man he is made to be, he always protects his dogs.

Sofia, Halle Berry’s character, does the same with her two dogs.  While they are trained to fight on command, she loves them.

The passion these two characters show for their dogs, is what wins me over.

Others who have seen these movies didn’t really watch it from a Dog Lovers point of view.

Are you brave enough to watch them and tell us what you think?
