Happy Valentine’s Day 2021!

Already this year seems to be flying by!

January is my higgly-piggly month and February is when I start to figure out what exactly I’m doing and what’s going on but this year I still seem to be all over the place and we’ve already hit Valentine’s Day!

However, one of the main beings in my life who keeps me grounded is my dog Billy!

Just this morning I woke, made my cereal and sat with him on my lap (yes a 20something kilo staffy) just looking out at the trees blowing in the breeze and listening to the birds chirping.

It was an ‘in the now moment’ that needed to happen.

Even as I type this Billy is sleeping peacefully and dutifully at my feet!

If that doesn’t swell your heart to love I don’t know what will.

NOTHING BEATS THE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE FROM YOUR DOG!

FOR THE LOVE OF DOGS – WHAT MAKES US LOVE THEM SO MUCH?

Well here’s just a few reasons why: –

1. Dog’s don’t judge;
2. Dog’s want to be with you;
3. Dog’s will defend and protect you;
4. Dog’s don’t sweat the small stuff;
5. Dog’s love us no matter what;
6. Dog’s are loyal above and beyond;
7. Dog’s don’t disrespect you;
8. Dog’s will snuggle with you;
9. Dog’s feel your pain;
10. Dog’s feel your happiness;
11. Dog’s read your energy;
12. Dog’s know us better than we know ourselves;
13. Dog’s don’t care what we look like;
14. Dog’s don’t care about our weight;
15. Dog’s don’t have a mean bone in their body (it’s situations we put them in that cause reaction);
16. Dog’s ooze unconditional love;
17. Dog’s don’t question that love;
18. Dog’s are playful;
19. Dog’s make us laugh;
20. When life is tough, snuggling with your dog helps;
21. Dog’s are ALWAYS happy to see you;
22. Dog’s will listen to you;
23. Dog’s trust you;
24. Dog’s willingly put their whole existence in your hands;
25. Dog’s believe in us;
26. Dog’s see us for the person we truly are and can become;
27. Dog’s think we’re pretty awesome;
28. Dog’s love life;
29. Dog’s live in the now;
30. Dog’s aren’t here for long, they keep it simple and love purely straight from the heart!

I could go on and on……….

When was the last time you looked into your dog’s eyes and saw 100% pure and utter love and trust?

WHAT CAN WE LEARN FROM OUR DOGS ABOUT LOVE?

We could learn a lot from our dogs on how to live our lives!!

As humans we really do over complicate things (myself included), which is why I took the time this morning to just BE with Billy, stop and be in the moment.

We live in a simple world really, it’s humans that make it crazy busy and out of control.

Watch your dog (not anxious ones obviously, that’s a side effect of being with anxious people), see how they handle life!

They live  each day as it comes, love unconditionally (no matter what) are completely loyal and are always happy to see you.

If we just adopted some of these traits consistently our lives would already be improved.

Let’s make a promise to ourselves and our dogs to just try to lead by example and live our lives as dogs do.

Can we do that?

I think we can, we owe it to ourselves and our dogs.

WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN?

It’s Valentine’s Day, we don’t need to go all commercial!

We can do as dogs do and keep it simple, live with unconditional love and live in the now!

We owe it ourselves and our dogs.
