CANINE BOWEN THERAPY?

Hey Woofa’s,

In case you didn’t know, I’m endeavouring to become a Canine Bowen Therapist.

Last year I had lower back issues and a customer of mine mentioned Bowen Therapy and that she had a great lady she sees.

I’d never heard of Bowen Therapy (have you?) and was curious.  So I went along to see what could be done.

It’s non-invasive, so much so I didn’t think she was doing much at all.

But that’s the point, Bowen Therapy stimulates the systems underneath our skin.

The moves used are small rolling moves in certain areas of the body to awaken systems that may not be working too well etc.

Once the lovely Bowen Therapist found out I was a Dog Groomer she mentioned that I should look into Canine Bowen Therapy.

Well I didn’t know there was such a thing either!

And here I am a few years later studying Canine Bowen Therapy.

For those of you who are reading this and who are local to me, I need some Case Studies.

So if you’d like to try Canine Bowen Therapy on your dog, read below and let me know.

Please recognise that I’m a Student of Canine Bowen Therapy and have a teacher that overseas what I do.

A BIT OF BOWEN THERAPY HISTORY!

The Bowen Technique (Bowen Therapy) is named after Australian, Thomas Ambrose Bowen (1916-1982).

Tom Bowen used a type of manual therapy of physical manoeuvres of muscles and nerves on his patients, now known as Bowen Therapy.

Tom treated  an estimated 13,000 patients per year with an 80% success rate.

Although, his technique was never actually documented, 6 men observed Tom’s work.

One of these men was Osteopath, Oswald Rentsch whose interpretation of Tom’s Bowen Therapy has become well known.

There are different interpretations of  Bowen Therapy and the one I choose to study is SMART BOWEN.

SMART BOWEN THERAPY!

Brian Smart studied Bowen Therapy under Oswald Rentsch.  After his study Brian was left with many questions that were left unanswered.

Brian Smart has done  extensive research and combined what he has learnt as a Football Trainer, Ambulance Officer (Advance Life Support), Remedial Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Stretching Techniques, Aroma Therapy and Acupuncture and Acupressure, to incorporate this in his own interpretation of Bowen Therapy.

Smart Bowen Therapy is therefore a dynamic remedial bodywork of technique that is relatively gentle.

It can be very relaxing and empowers the bodies own healing resources to achieve balance and harmony resulting in fast and lasting relief from pain and discomfort.

SMART BOWEN THERAPY is an all embracing vibrational energy therapy that’s safe to use on most people from newborns through to the elderly.

It also treats a wide range of conditions from sports injuries to chronic or organic complaints.

WHAT’S SMART BOWEN THERAPY GOT TO DO WITH MY DOG?

GET THIS Smart Bowen Therapy can be done on ANIMALS as well!!!!!!!

Brian Smart in all his wisdom spent many hours working with dogs (and horses) and developed a large range of Bowen Therapy procedures just for them.  All of which have been largely successful.

SMART CANINE BOWEN THERAPY

Is described as a transverse (2 directional – over the same line) cross fibre, muscle rolling soft tissue technique.  It’s singularly applied to a given location before proceeding onto another location!

Basically, it’s a small rolling manoeuvre (move) that addresses all soft tissue, muscle, ligament, tendons, fascia (connective tissue), skin and organs.

Each move addresses certain areas that need tending to.

After extensive consultation a trained Canine Bowen Therapist will devise  Bowen Therapy moves that will assist your dog given the information you have given them and based on the movement in your dog.

For example:

If your dog is suffering in any way from arthritis, joint pain, digestive issues, persistent anal gland issues, chronic pain, acute pain from injuries etc Canine Bowen Therapy can help them.

Canine Bowen Therapy also addresses emotional issues your dog may be suffering such as, stress, anxiety etc.

Remember it’s non-intrusive, so a trained Canine Bowen Therapist will be able to read whether your dog is accepting of the treatment or not.

If your dog has any issue, call a Canine Bowen Therapist and ask how they can help your dog!

CHOOSING A CANINE BOWEN THERAPIST!

When looking for a Canine Bowen Therapist you need to check whether they are:

  1. trained by a recognised Institute;
  2. registered as a Canine Bowen Therapist
  3. certified to practice Canine Bowen Therapy; and
  4. insured to practice as a Canine Bowen Therapist.

The training for Canine Bowen Therapy is extensive and takes a lot of time to learn everything from the skeletal layout of your dog, every muscle, tendon, ligament, all the soft tissue that makes up your dog etc.

Basically we need to know how your dog works from the inside right through to the outside!   This doesn’t happen over night!

We are extensively examined on this, as well as learning over 30 different moves that can be used in a Canine Bowen Therapy sequence!

We need to know why we do those moves, where we do them and the effect it will have on your dog.

In saying this though, some people feel they can call themselves a Canine Bowen Therapist only after Module 1, and this is NOT THE CASE.

Do your research and make sure your CANINE BOWEN THERAPIST IS properly trained, certified, insured and knows what they are doing.

WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN?

Bowen Therapy basically stimulates muscles and nerves that help trigger the brain so that the body can heal itself and rid itself of any toxins.

YES Bowen Therapy can be done on your dog.

Canine Bowen Therapy is non-invasive and is a natural way to help heal your dog, or to assist them in ways that make moving around easier, or to help emotional issues or just to give them an all over Basic Body Balance.

Your Canine Bowen Therapist will work out what’s best for your dog.

Make sure you find a Fully Trained and Certified Canine Bowen Therapist.

TRY IT – YOUR DOG WILL LOVE YOU FOR IT!
