25 Things I Learnt From The Dog Lover’s Show!!!

Hey Woofa’s,

Dean and I headed off to The Dog Lover’s Show on Saturday and I wasn’t disappointed.  We spent all day there!!!

We got there a tad early and purchased our tickets at the door.  While we were waiting however, we were entertained by a Farmer and his working dog, who would jump into his arms when whistled to.  She also did it to crowd members who were eager to have a go.

Once inside you could go left to the Royal Hall of Industries or you could go right to The Horden Pavilion.   Decisions, Decisions!!!

We went left first and wandered around the exhibitors, they had all different rescue places for specific breeds, dog foods, dog products, vacuums for pet hair, pet holidays, you name it if it was for dogs it was there.

In the far left corner was the Pet Circle Stage where I spent a bit of time on Dog Talks by The Experts.   There were breed specific talks on one of the other stages.

Outside they had the Dock Dogs which was fun but I thought would’ve been a bit cold for them to jump in the water!

On the other side in the Horden Pavilion, there were more exhibitors selling everything dogs.  You even had Insta-dogs, which are dogs that are famous on Instagram – AND you could have photos with them!!!  Some of these dogs have over hundreds and thousands of followers!!!

They had the Arena here for the Doggy Olympics, they had high jump, basket ball, racing etc.

In the middle of the two buildings there was an area for The Working Dogs, where they demonstrated how these dogs do their thing.

There was so much to see and do!!

25 Things I Learnt From The Dog Lover’s Show!!

  1. Buy your tickets on line as they were cheaper.  Even though we paid a bit more I still think it was worth it though.
  2. Double Check the time it opens so you’re not standing in line freezing for 40 minutes.  Although, it was fun watching the exhibitors go in with their dogs of all shapes and sizes.
  3. You can’t take your own dog to the Dog Lover’s Show.  This is a no brainer but some people tried to go in with their dog.  Only dogs that where with exhibitors and competing were allowed in.
  4. If you want to see EVERYTHING, you really do need two days.  We were there for a full day and still didn’t see all the events that were on.  A program is a must if you want to see events and talks.
  5. If you’re not a dog lover, then don’t go!
  6. The whole place was filled with dog lovers!  You could tell because every time a dog was around you could hear the hearts melting.  The cameras would come out and the patting was a free for all.
  7. There are genuine loving caring people that put a lot of love, blood, sweat and tears to put this together.  As well as, people who dedicate their lives to dogs, whether it’s through rescue, caring for them, providing for them, fostering them and most of all just loving them.   The day had a good vibe being surrounded by the love and happiness that dogs provide.
  8. There was not one growl throughout the whole day.  There would’ve been hundreds of dogs and I did not witness any aggressiveness, or anxiety etc from any of the dogs.  They appeared to be all calm and relaxed and handled being amongst crowds really well.
  9. The amount of dog products seemed to be endless.
  10. Exhibitors who had dog food, all had the best dog food!  In order to obtain samples you had to fill in your name and e-mail address (which is fair enough).  However, everyone of them you spoke to their dog food product was the best.
  11. If you don’t know dog food, it could be very confusing.  I had one guy tell me to stop giving Billy vegetables because he doesn’t need them!!!!  Um excuse me Mr my Vet just told me to keep doing what I’m doing BECAUSE HE IS HEALTHY!!!
  12. Because it was a cool day even some of the Dock Dogs didn’t want to jump in the pool.  I’m happy to say that they DO NOT throw them in if they don’t want to go in.  It’s purely up to the dog whether they jump in or not : )
  13. The Olympic dogs aren’t forced to do their sports either, if the dogs want to do it they do.   Cheers of encouragement from the crowd were loud, as well as cheers of victory.
  14. The seminar talks were general but very informative, by different Leaders in their Fields of Expertise.  The Pet Circle Vets, Dr Katrina & the Wonder Dogs (trainer Kelly), Dr Chris Brown and many others.
  15. If you’re a dog lover you won’t be able to resist buying SOMETHING for your fur kids.
  16. Maybe it was just our choice but what we had for lunch was average from one of the food vendors.
  17. No-one can resist the loving adoring eyes of any of the dogs there.
  18. Dogs really do make you laugh.  They either want to perform or they don’t.
  19. Have your money ready.  We probably spent around $100 (cough maybe a bit more) on stuff for Billy.  As well as standing in long lines to enter our details so we could get many, many sample packs for Billy.  We voted and believe the Pet Circle Bag was the best.  Better quality bag, as well as products in the bag.  Billy stuck his head right into them when we got home.
  20. Some dogs are really famous, more famous than some famous people.  The Instag-dogs were adorable.
  21. Given the amount of dogs that were there, I only saw two dogs poop and it was cleaned up straight away.  They had people on poop duty.
  22. It’s an awesome Family Day.
  23. It’s a great place to go if you’re thinking about getting a dog but not sure which type to get, because nearly every breed of dog was covered.  There were plenty of people there to talk to about dogs.
  24. You could rescue dogs on the day, but not take them home on the day.
  25. The whole time we were at the Dog Lover’s Show Billy was at home sleeping.  We’d check in on him through our camera app on Dean’s phone.  While we were walking around shopping for him, standing in line for samples for him, he slept on our bed.
